Medtech Business Modelling & Strategies Workshop
There are three common business models used in Medtech: (i) build value to license, (ii) build value to acquire, and (iii) build value to be big and independent. Start-up companies need to decide on this strategy early in their development because there are serious implications for fund-raising, regulatory and IP decisions. In the first part of this workshop, Dr. Wodlinger will review the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of each model, discuss the strategies and tactics used to implement them, and involve the audience in interactive case studies. Attendees will gain a better insight into the impact of the business model choice and its influence on factors like revenue stream, price, margin structure, customer training, sales investment, competitive differentiation, IP and financial requirements. In the second part of the workshop, Nilay Goyal will provide an overview of the lean business model canvas methodology.
