On September 7th join a panel of local healthcare experts to discuss all the changes taking place in our community, and the impacts they will have. Senior representatives from Lakeridge Health and the Central East LHIN, along with a local physician, will describe what's changing in Ajax-Pickering right now, and participate in a round table forum with lunch and learn attendees.
The event will also feature a keynote address from our partners Ontario Power Generation highlighting the impact of the nuclear industry in the health sector by Cobalt-60 – an isotope harvested from Pickering Nuclear plant used to sterilize disposable medical supplies (i.e. syringes, surgical gowns, masks, sutures) as well as Consumer products (i.e. fruit, seafood, poultry and red meat). In total 70% of the world's supply of Cobalt-60 is provided by OPG and Bruce Power.
